One of the greatest things about living in beautiful San Diego is that fact that Summer really lasts through October. We get to enjoy fresh produce and warm weather for longer than most.
How about all that great produce we get from the farmers’ market? (There must be 20 of them around San Diego) Join Diane Phillips in becoming more sustainable with her class on August 6th. Use your produce in the trend of home canning! Move over grandma!! Karen Ward will show us how on July 31st! Count me in, as I expect lots of tomatoes from my container garden this year!
Mary AnnVitale (of La Taverna in La Jolla) is bringing back her “hands on” sausage making class! I am so excited to attend this class! Join me on September 15th or October 3rd. Another interesting class will be the NEW “Sous Vide” machine class with Katherine Emmenegger. As seen on Food network, this new method of cooking is a long, slow, gentle, “contained” method September 16th.
We have been inspired by our First Lady, Michelle Obama and Jamie Oliver, and are starting our own movement for families in San Diego. We want to empower your family to cook together! Teach your children that nutritious foods taste great! We will send you home on a mission to spend more time together, creating great food, and making new memories that last a lifetime. Join Chef David Church in the Food Revelation! Ours will take place once a month, and Chef David will be preparing different menu items full of flavor, nutrients, and of course, FUN. These classes are great for children, teens, parents, and grandparents! Bring the whole family, August 20th and September 19th!
We wish to congratulate Erika D’Eugenio our general Manager, and Sherri Glosz our accounting manager on their 10 year anniversary with Great News! This is a milestone in any career and we are SO Proud of them. A big “Thank You” to them both, as we appreciate the loyalty, hard work, dedication and GREAT JOB they have done!

The summer season always has me pulling out my trusty ice cream maker. I keep two of the insulated bowls in my freezer at all times. The quick and easy coffee or chocolate recipe is so simple. Uses only cream, milk, sugar, coffee crystals (or coco powder) & vanilla. Dissolve all of the sugar and powder in the milk, pour into the freezer bowl and turn it on. EZ! It only takes about 45 minutes for soft serve or 1 hour in the freezer for harder ice cream. Of course I always add little bits of toffee, nuts, chocolate or (chopped candy bars) just at the end. People are always amazed you made it yourself, and it is a crime how easy it really is! It makes a great summer gift.
BBQ is a huge San Diego summer pastime. The great climate is why we are all here isn’t it? Get all of the best tools, marinades, dry rubs and sauces for the perfect BBQ right here.
