Dear friends:As the New Year unfolds with our hopes of better health and fitness, we would like to share with you a delicious way to ring in the New Year! You can walk to view the gardens, but better yet, take one of their cooking classes, and you will get a guided tour. The brand new, modern (yet authentically Mexican) designed cooking school serves up the most delicious and healthy food you can imagine, bar none. Of course chef Michelle Stroot (guest chef for the week and formerly of the Golden Door) is so charming and amazingly fit (at close to 70!) that it is impossible not to become a devotee of the benefits of a healthy (mostly vegetarian), organic diet.The expansive property is nestled conveniently close to the border and features lovely private casitas that are comfortable and beautifully appointed!The grounds are lovely to walk with stunning, life size, bronze sculptures that inspire the sprit. The entire property is beautifully and lovingly maintained by local employees, many whom have worked at the ranch for decades. This speaks well for founder Deborah Szekely, who is respected and loved by all who both visit and work at the ranch.The fitness program has so many options that you cannot possibly try them all in only a week. Daily hikes up the mountain are tailored to every fitness level. Classes run the gamut from stretch, Pilates, water classes, weight training, yoga, dance and too many more to list! Other activities included mosaic, watercolor, jewelry making and sculpture: appealing to the inner artist in each of us.
